Kaina Makua is the owner and operator of Aloha Aina Poi Co and a Nonprofit called "Kumano I Ke Ala". Kumano I Ke Ala's fundamental mission is the empower West Kaua'i towards a more sustainable future while preserving native Hawaiian resources.

Native Hawaiian Language and Cultural Practices
Cultural Awareness and Identity
Food Sovereignty

Local Kupuna (elderly) with the weekly meal distribution
Workers displaced due to COVID-19 with workforce training and employment
Local food system growth in collaboration with community partners

Small Scale Community Farmers by providing cost effective natural farming education and entrepreneurial opportunities.
At-risk youth through mentorship and sustainable farming education.
Food insecurity is a critical problem on Kaua‘i. The pandemic has made our response all the more urgent.
Their mission as a Native non-profit is to serve the West Kaua‘i community through impactful and measurable programming that leads to positive and meaningful outcomes for its people.
